This training is spearheaded by Employers Confederation of the Philippines, International Labor Organization, and SOCSKSARGEN Federation of Fishing and Allied Industries Inc.
The training held on East Asia Royale Hotel on May 21-22, 2024 aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of socially responsible labor practices, enhance knowledge of Corporate Social Responsibility and Resposible Business Conduct, familiarize participants with international standard instruments, and educate them on international labor standards and national laws, including common non-compliance cases.
On Day 1, FFSAPI-SARGEN Fisheries Improvement Project was presented and provide project updates to the stakeholders. Ms. Rhodora B. Snyder discussed the TOT Roadmap, and Ms. Cerilyn Pastolero overviewed a rural sector project on workers’ rights. Ms. Nenette Fernando covered international compliance instruments and CSR/RBC guidelines, addressing workplace concerns such as child labor and fair recruitment. Mr. Robert Francis Maronilla concluded with a session on general labor standards, including working hours and wages.
Day 2 focused on OSH, led by Mr. Rex Del Rosario, who discussed OSH concepts, accident prevention, legislations, and administrative requirements. Topics also included health hazard identification, safety rules, hazards identification, risk assessment, emergency preparedness, and the WISE program. Another round of training will be conducted to focus more on training of trainors to supplement this activity, and pay it forward to the industry.
