The FFSAPI-SARGEN Handline Fisheries Improvement Project proudly held a significant milestone for the Training and Installation of Vessel Monitoring System for Municipal Fishing Vessels on May 24, 2025. This initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of the project to enhance traceability, promote responsible fishing practices, and support compliance with global market standards.
A key highlight of the activity was the training on the ALON System, conducted by Mr. William Patrick McGrath, President of Navcast Asia. Participants gained hands-on knowledge of the technology’s capabilities and its role in strengthening fisheries management.
This is followed by the installation of the VMS units led by Mr. Dionesio Simbahon, Jr., Technical Support from Navcast Asia. These installations mark an important step toward ensuring that all enrolled vessels under the FIP are equipped with modern monitoring systems.
This initiative reinforces the project’s advocacy for transparency, sustainability, and data-driven fisheries governance.
