MSC AND FIP TRAINING FOR BFAR ENFORCEMENT TEAM

On December 20, 2023, a focused training session took place at the BFAR-12 Satellite Office in General Santos City, dedicated to equipping BFAR Law Enforcement personnel for their essential role in the FFSAPI-SARGEN Handline Fisheries Improvement Project towards Marine Stewardship Council Certification.

This training session aimed to engage key stakeholders, with a specific focus on law enforcement officials actively involved in the Fisheries Improvement Project towards  MSC certification. The primary objective was to illustrate their crucial role in ensuring program success, particularly in addressing challenges related to maintaining lawful and sustainable practices in both commercial and municipal handline fishing.

The meeting went beyond enforcement considerations and sought to reinforce a collective commitment to fostering a sustainable and lawful fishing environment. Participants were provided with insights and strategies to actively contribute to the broader objectives of the FFSAPI-SARGEN Handline Fisheries Improvement Project, solidifying the shared vision for responsible and lawful fishing practices. Through this collaborative effort, the training aimed to create a more robust framework for advancing the cause of eco-label certification for handline fisheries in the region.
