The Marine Stewardship Council is an international non-profit organisation which recognises and rewards efforts to protect oceans and safeguard seafood supplies for the future.

MSC certification is a way of showing that a fishery meets international best practices for sustainable fishing. Fish and seafood from certified fisheries can carry the blue MSC label, assuring customers that their buying is sustainable. This certification represents a fishery that is sustainable, protected, and well-managed.

Any wild-capture freshwater and marine fishery – regardless of size, scale, ecology geography or technology – can seek MSC certification.

Being MSC certified will increase your credibility in the international marketplace and your catch can be sold with the blue MSC label. This means you helped in ensuring healthy oceans and safeguarding seafood supplies for the future.

To achieve MSC certification, fisheries must demonstrate they meet the three core principles.
