FIP Engages Participants with Interactive Booth at the 25th National Tuna Congress

The FFSAPI-SARGEN Handline Fisheries Improvement Project actively showcased its initiatives during the 25th National Tuna Congress and Trade Exhibit, held at SM City General Santos from September 2 to 4, 2025.

As part of its engagement efforts, the FIP set up an informative booth highlighting its ongoing work on sustainable fishing practices, human rights and social responsibility, and traceability improvements in the handline tuna sector. Visitors to the booth learned about the progress of the FIP in strengthening compliance with international standards and ensuring that handline-caught tuna from General Santos meets global market requirements.

Adding a fun and interactive twist, the FIP also hosted a Fish Identification Game, where participants tested their knowledge of various tuna and other fish species. The activity drew lively participation from industry stakeholders, students, and guests, with many enjoying the challenge and winning prizes.

The activity reflected this year’s congress theme: “The National Tuna Congress @ 25: Renewing Commitments and Intensifying Strategic Partnerships.” By combining learning with interactive experiences, the FIP booth brings value of both stakeholder engagement and community involvement in sustaining the future of tuna fisheries.

The FIP expressed appreciation to all participants who visited the booth, joined the games, and shared their enthusiasm for sustainable and responsible fishing.
