Batch 2 of 2025 Training on Logsheet Reporting, Species Identification, and ETP Policy Consultation

The FIP successfully conducted Batch 2 of its training for handline fishers on accurate logsheet reporting, species identification, and the initial consultation on the Endangered, Threatened, and Protected (ETP) Species Policy.
The session was held on November 6, 2025, at Sun City Suites, General Santos City.

This second batch of training continued the FIP’s commitment to strengthening the capacity of handline fishers in properly documenting catch information, improving species identification skills, and enhancing compliance with conservation measures under BFAR FAO 208 (2001) and FAO 208-1 (2024).

Resource speakers from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region XII delivered in-depth discussions on the topics.

The program concluded with an Initial Consultation on the ETP Policy for SARGEN Handline members, allowing participants to provide insights that will support the finalization of the policy.

This activity is part of the continuing efforts of the FFSAPI–SARGEN Handline FIP to promote responsible fishing practices, strengthen catch traceability, and ensure adherence to environmental and social standards for a more sustainable tuna handline fishery.
