To strengthen monitoring, control, and traceability within the local handline tuna fishery, a total of 18 handline vessels—9 municipal and 9 commercial—were recently installed with ALON vessel tracking units. The devices were donated by the City Government of General Santos, reaffirming its continuing support for sustainable and transparent fishing practices.

Prior to the installation, a training and orientation session was conducted for vessel owners, captains, and crew members. The session provided hands-on guidance on the operation and maintenance of the ALON units, as well as an overview of how the system contributes to vessel monitoring, safety at sea, and compliance with fisheries regulations.
