One-Stop-Shop: Programa ug Serbisyo para sa Mananagat a Success!

On August 7, 2024, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region XII, in collaboration with 27 government agencies, hosted the One-Stop-Shop: Programa ug Serbisyo para sa Mananagat at Market 1, General Santos Fish Port Complex. The event ran from 7 AM to 3 PM and provided essential services to the fishing community.

The activity aimed to streamline access to various government services, offering administrative support such as ID issuance, late birth registration, and TUPAD profiling. Over 1,000 fishermen attended, demonstrating strong demand for these centralized services. The Holy Mass opened the event, followed by a short program with remarks from DOLE Regional Director Joel Gonzales, Mayor Lorelie G. Pacquiao, Councilor Jose Orlando Acharon, and Port Manager Paris Ayon.

One of the most popular services was TUPAD profiling, which drew over 500 participants from General Santos, including 148 women and 416 men. The SOCSKSARGEN Federation of Fishing and Allied Industries, Inc. (SFFAII) provided free lunch packs for 500 fisherfolk, while members of FFSAPI-Sargen Handline FIP actively participated and benefited from the services.

The event was highly praised by attendees, as it significantly reduced the time and effort needed to access multiple services. By centralizing these offerings, the government underscored its commitment to improving the welfare of the fishing community in General Santos City and Sarangani Province. The success of this event highlights the need for similar initiatives to be held regularly.
