A comprehensive dialogue regarding human rights and social responsibility policies took place at the SFFAII Office, Salvani St., General Santos City on March 9, 2024.
The event was attended by 34 owners and stakeholders from the FFSAPI Sargen Handline program, as part of the Social Fisheries Improvement Project. While vessel owners were the main actors for the activitiy, officers of the Sargen Fish Port Tuna Handline Fishing Association and Fresh Frozen Seafood Association showed their support.
The first part of the activity centered on human rights policies based from the assessments of the Subject Matter Experts presented via Zoom. The recommendations derived from the surveys and focus group discussions with fishers and owners alike. An open forum was also conducted to provide the owners with a platform to voice their concerns and offer suggestions openly. Other FIP updates were also presented by the Implementing Team to align the boat owners for other matters relating to the project.
