To be able to enroll on FisheryProgress.org, a Social Fisheries Improvement Project (FIP) is required. This project aim to enhance the social aspects of fisheries in addition to their environmental sustainability.
The process includes the assessment of labor conditions, community engagement, and the well-being of those involved in the fishery. Once the assessment is complete, the project shall be able to identify the areas that require improvement and set achievable goals to meet standards. This might involve creating better working conditions, providing more educational opportunities, or enhancing community involvement.
To be able to accomplish the Social FIP, it is relevant to collaborate with the stakeholders, local communities, private and public organizations, and government agencies. Their input and involvement are crucial for the success of the Social FIP.
With a well-defined plan in place, the implementation of the necessary changes and improvements shall be regularly monitored, and make adjustments as needed.
The Fresh Frozen Seafood Association of the Philippines, Inc. has again commissioned the services of Contreras Professional Consultancy Corp. (CPCC) to be the Implementing Team of the Social FIP project for the Sargen Handline Fisheries. CPCC shall keep stakeholders informed about the progress of the Social FIP. Transparency and reporting are essential for building trust and support from the wider community.
Enrolling the fishery on FisheryProgress.org and initiating a Social Fisheries Improvement Project is a significant step toward a more sustainable and responsible fishing industry. By committing to these initiatives, fishery communities can enhance both the environmental and social aspects of their operations, ensuring the well-being of all stakeholders and the long-term sustainability of our oceans’ resources.
